Hey There! All the alkali metals react vigorously with cold water. In each reaction, hydrogen gas is given off and the metal hydroxide is produced. Any reaction is accelerated by increasing the temperature & concentration of the reactants. While the concentration differences between cold and hot water is not much, the temperature enhances the rate of the reaction. So, hot water promotes the reaction faster leading to accelerated corrosion.
