Irrigation is an activity that needs available water .it is suitable in alluvial plain due to the following reasons
a) rivers flow at a high speed from the mountains carrying sediments .the sediments are then deposited and when accumulated forms a fertile soil
b) alluvial plains contain considerable ground water which is replenishable during rainy seasons .this makes it possible for irrigation even if the lavel of water in the river goes down
