In the 'Pride and Prejudice' we can see how Jane Austen is constantly in critique of the Victorian drama. As she narrates the incidents, she is also mocking the prudishness and notions about women and marriage that the Europeans held. She sets the story realistically in her times to show the life of a woman then but then goes on to use her wit and intelligence to subvert these elements one by one by giving you a powerful and strong protagonist who has her own opinions and knows to make decisions for herself.
