Question : How does Kezia begin to see her father as a human being who needs her sympathy ?

Answer : Kezia was used to the scolding and punishment given by her dad. She lived in extreme fear of him.

But , a nightmare one night made Kezia discover the tender and loving side of her father . In her dream she saw a butcher with a knife and a rope , showing a dreadful smile. When her father heard her shrieking with fear , he came to her room. He lifted her in his arms and took her to his own room. He comforted her , tucked her into the bed and also slept next to her. Kezia too, snugged her head under his arm and held tightly to his shirt . This incident made her realise that her father was very much a human being and needed her sympathy . These thoughts filled her heart with love and affection for him.
