Launcelot gets emotional while saying goodbye to Jessica. He has tears in his eyes. He calls her a 'beautiful Pagan' and a 'sweet Jew'. He also hopes that Lorenzo helps Jessica elope. He is a little embarrassed about crying, since it affects his 'manly spirit'.

Looking at how Launcelot interacts with Jessica, it is clear that he is fond of her and is her well-wisher. He wants her to be able to elope with Lorenzo and lead a happy life. Also, his getting emotional shows that he is a sensitive person. His leaving Shylock's household makes the reader happy for him and a little sad for Jessica.

Even though Jessica is Shylock's daughter, Launcelot holds her in high regard. She is portrayed as a sweet natured person. It is her kind behaviour towards Launcelot that makes it hard for him to say goodbye to her. He says 'Adieu' three times before he actually leaves. This shows that they are good friends rather than mistress and servant. Jessica is also an empathetic person, just like Launcelot.

Going by Launcelot's words, it is clear that Shylock is not a person who spreads happiness. In fact, his own daughter wants to run away from the house. Launcelot, who is paid for his services, is also leaving. He earnestly hopes that Lorenzo will rescue Jessica from the clutches of her father. It paints a rather unfavourable picture of Shylock.
