As a litmus tool for our electoral structure and federal policy, linguistic reorganization of States has certainly brought in mixed responses from political leaders. However, several leaders were quite apprehensive such a reorganization initially,
Explanation:
It enhanced the unity of the nation in the several ways such as:
- As a country with linguistic diversity after independence , India agreed to change the boundaries of older States according to language to ensure that people who spoke the same language lived in the same territory. It helped to establish a sense of solidarity within the same language group.
- Had it not been reorganized, India would have been split into different nations and linguistic cultural communities may have lobbied for their respective desires to become leaders and recognizing their diverse interests, contributing to political turmoil, anarchy and war.
- The Vishal Andhra campaign called for a separate Telugu state from the Province of Madras as a result of the linguistic re-organising. Thanks to major demonstrations, our national leadership had behaved in the country's general interest and consequently formed language-based states.
- It enabled the representation of different language groups.
- It helped strengthen democracy and decreased the risk of future wars and society's disintegration by keeping their needs into account.
- It has nurtured a sense of cohesion in the nation by appeasing different language groups and not by enforcing the will of the center on the states.
- It has helped to make administrative progress.
- It has strengthened the federal structure in which States are properly recognized
