Evaporation is the phenomenon which occurs at all temperatures.
when a liquid is placed in a container, it will start evaporating. Of all the particles which are evaporated some of them lose energy and come back to the container , this is know as condensation. initially the rate of evaporation was high, as the time goes on the rate of evaporation decreases and the rate of condensation increases. a time will reach when both the evaporation and condensation becomes equal at this stage the pressure exerted by the liquid on the container is known as vapour pressure.
