First, it depends what kind of cell it is

for example if its a muscle cell (sarcolema) it will show no response

but if its a bacterial or goblet cell, then it might swell cell or shrink based upon the concentration of the solution.

Secondly, the living cell will might absorb the water to continue metabolic processes taking inside it.
