loosening of soil actually means to create air spaces in the soil. by ploughing the field, the farmer creates lots of air spaces in soil causing gaseous exchange and entry of oxygen to the soil. this way roots are able to breathe!

hope this helps!

loosening of soil allow the roots to breathe easily .soil is tightly packed and have oxgen between the particles of soil .
loosening helps the roots as the soil after loosening becomes porous and the roots can take easily the oxygen and loosening also allows the minerals lies deep inside the soil to come to the upper part so that the roots will be benefit.
hope it helps
