Magnetic separation is used for separating sulphur and iron.
It is a process in which magnetic particles can be separated with non - magnetic particles.

Principal : magnetic properties of the ores
Method : The crushed ore is placed over a conveyer belt, which rotates around two metal wheels, one of which is magnetic. The magnetic particles are attracted to the magnetic wheel and fall separately apart from the non-magnetic paticles.

Simply magnetic separation is used to separate the magnetic ores from the non- magnetic gangue

rany30: but if it has a non magnetic conveyer belt then how would they get collected in the magnetic bin
mamun59: The conveyer belt was never magnetic, it was non magnetic, only out of two wheels one is magnetic which helps in separating the magnetic particles or magnetic ores
rany30: ok thank you
