The effect of meiosis is as follows -
- Meiosis is the reductional division that occurs in gametes. It is accompanied by recombination in sister chromatids.
- This recombination results in genetic variation by the formation of the new combination of genes which differs the physical characteristics from parents.
- Mitosis does not have the feature of genetic recombination and therefore parent and daughter cells are identical.
