when acid reacts with metals then salt and hydrogen gas is produced.

acid+ metals = salt +hydrogen

for eg: Mg + 2HCl = MgCl2 + H2

2. when metals react with bases then also produce salt and hydrogen gas..

base+ metal= salt + hydrogen

for eg: Al + 2NaOH = NaAlO2 + H2

note: always write balanced chemical equation.
