Methyl Orange is a Common indicator used to identify the type of compound i.e. Acidic, Basic or Neutral.

Methyl Orange in basic solutions turns Yellow in colour whereas in Acidic solutions turn Red in colour.

The pH of compound decides whether it will be light or dark (red/yellow)
