The chromosomes in nucleus of a cell contains the information of inheritance of features from parents to next generation in the form of DNA molecules.During replication the cell divides to form two new daughter cells, which contain same amount of chromosomes and the process is called mitosis. It generally happens in asexual reproduction. So it is similiar to it's parent cell,as it dies not involve the fusion of two sex cells.
