how does momohydric alcohol react with aldehydes and dihydric alcohol with ketones​

If instead of two molecules of a monohydric alcohol, one molecule of dihydric alcohol is added, a cyclic acetal is formed. For example, Ketones do not react with monohydric alcohols but they react with dihydric alcohols to form cyclic ketals.
