Without music, my life would be so dull. Nothing makes me happier than when I discover a new type of music that I’ve never heard before. I love it when a random song on the radio seems to speak to my soul. I also have hundreds of songs on my phone that are all special to me in some way or another. I’ve created playlists for many of my emotions: songs for when I’m feeling sad, happy, frustrated, peaceful, or elated.
When someone shares their favorite song with me, it’s like I’m getting a little glimpse inside their life. And when I share my music with others, it’s like I’m letting them in on a secret part of my identity.
Music gets me through the day. I listen to it while I’m folding laundry, driving to work, waiting in line, walking my dog, wandering around the neighborhood, and even while I’m brushing my teeth. Maybe this is a bit of an exaggeration, but I don’t think I could live without it.
