Climatic conditions such as temperature and rainfall are responsible for the growth of natural vegetation.  Tropical temperatures and heavy rainfall led to the growth of evergreen forests.  Extremely high temperatures with less rainfall can only support small scrubs and thorny bushes.  Low temperatures near the freezing point gives growth to mosses and lichens.

Climate is an important factor for a place and the natural vegetation plays an ‘important role’ in impacting the climate of a place. The vegetation affects the climate due to the ‘release of water vapour’ during their photosynthesis.

Explanation:

  • The water vapour evaporates in the air and leads to the formation of clouds. Clouds act as a barrier to sunlight and radiation on the earth. This leads to precipitation or rainfall in certain places.
  • The global climate is affected by the vegetation and the ecology structure of the place. It leads to the occurrence of precipitation due to vegetation in semi-arid or tropical monsoon regions.
  • There is an increase in the transfer of heat due to vegetation and affects the atmosphere and the surface radiation from the earth which leads to humidity and formation of clouds.
