This is an emotional moment for me and I feel privileged to be here with you. I feel I am standing in the shadow of great Maharashtrians – Mahadev Govind Ranade who founded this sammelan and whose name is part of the modern history of our country, the distinguished Marathi writers who have chaired its conventions and all the writers who have taken part in its sessions and whose writing has enriched the great creative enterprise known as Indian literature.

It is also an emotional moment for me because of my own connection with Maharashtra through my father, Ranjit Sitaram Pandit. I would like to tell you a little about him. He was a Sanskrit scholar from a family of distinguished Sanskrit scholars and he translated three Sanskrit classics into English: Mudra Rakshasa, Kalidas’s Ritusamhara, and Rajatarangini.

Answer:

Heya Mate ☺️

Introduction-Families below the poverty line struggle to make ends meet. Since they do not have enough to feed the children, any offer from human traffickers is hard to resist. Therefore, children are sold by willing parents, who desperately need money, no matter how small the amount is. Hunger therefore pushes young children into the flesh trade.

2. Lack of education- The lack of education has a double impact on human trafficking. To begin with, the uneducated youth cannot find jobs that are good enough to support themselves or their families. Next, there is no understanding of family planning. When a young couple has many children and no source of income, human trafficking seems like a convenient way of getting rid of the unwanted children and getting some money to run the house.

3. Lack of law enforcement- While many know that human trafficking is a crime, they bank on the incapacity of the law enforcement agencies to effectively track down and punish the offenders. The legal process is slow and tedious. The offenders often get away with petty bribes given to police officers.
