As you increase the number of carbon atoms in a hydrocarbon, the number of isomers quickly increases. For example, heptane, with seven carbon atoms, has nine isomers; and dodecane, with twelve carbon atoms, has 355 isomers. Some hydrocarbons with many more carbon atoms have billions of isomers!

motepriyanka6: Thankyou for the help but the question is based on increase in carbon compounds due to isomerism
motepriyanka6: if it would be why isomers increase with increase in carbon compounds then your answer would be valid

Hello guys,

Your answer:

Isomers are compounds with similar formula but different internal structure , as isomers have different internal structure there can be more number of compounds formed with the similar compound and different internal structure.
