How does one can explain the emission of electrons from a photosensitive surface with the help of einsteins photoelectric equation?

according to  einsteins photoelectric equation hv=w+k

w=hvo

the photons  having energy greater than their work function will make the electrons come out from the photosensitive metal and the rest energy will provide the K.E. to the electrons
