What are election laws?
- Election laws are made by Election Commission to held free and fair elections in India.
- In this , a model code of conduct was agreed and the parties and candidates applying for elections have to abide by it .
- If not abided , the qualifications may stand cancelled.
How it regulate campaigns?
- Election laws put a check over the activities of parties and candidates to held free and fair elections .
According to election laws ,
- No party or candidate can bribe a voter .
- No party or candidate can threaten a voter .
- No usage of government resources for campaigns .
- Not to spend more that 25 lakh for constituency elections in Lok Sabha and 10 lakh in Assembly elections .
- No use of religion or caste to create a vote bank of voters .
