Photosynthesis is a day process for almost 90% of the normal plant, but there is a different photosynthesis process that takes place for desert plants.

Take for instance cactus plant, the photosynthesis process associated with cactus is called CAM. Cam stands for “crassulacean acid metabolism”.

In this process, the photosynthesis process occurs, which is inhaling of carbon-di-oxide and excreting water, during night.

Desert plants take up Carbon dioxide at night and prepare an intermediate which is acted upon by the energy absorbed by the chlorophyll during the day.
