How does photosynthesis occur in read or purple coloured leaf for 7std?

Typically, chlorophyll absorbs mostly red and blue light to excite the electrons in the photosystems for photosynthesis. Their color is the complementary color of the light they absorb. Hence, plants with higher concentrations of carotenoids will appear dark red or purple.
