Phototropism is the growth of an organism which responds to a light stimulus. It is most often observed inplants, but can also occur in other organisms such as fungi. The cells on the plant that are farthest from the light have a chemical called auxin that reacts when phototropism occurs.

Dear Student,

● Phototropism -

  • Growth of a part of the plant in response to light stimulus is called phototropism.
  • Growth towards the light is positive phototropism and growth away from the light is negative phototropism (also known as skototropism).
  • Stem of the plant shows positive phototropism. i.e. it grows towards the sun.

Thanks dear. Hope this helps you ...
