The sides of the pitcher plants are slippery and is grooved in such a way so as to ensure that the insects which falls in cannot climb out. inside the groove it is filled with liquids which contains digestive chemicals. When an insect is trapped, through the process of digestion, the prey is converted into a solution of organic and inorganic chemicals to be used by the plant.
