Answer:

Marine pollution

Marine pollution is caused by pollutants entering our seas and oceans. They are harmful to aquatic life. Plastic is most dangerous solid pollutants of our seas and oceans. Mankind has found plastics as an easy and cheap means of manufacturing several products. Millions of tonnes of plastics wastes such as bags, straws, bottles, etc. are carried by rivers into the seas and oceans causing marine creatures like dolphins, turtles, seabirds, sharks, etc. to die from ingestion, entanglement, and suffocation.

The carbon-dioxide of the atmosphere dissolves in the waters of the oceans and reduces the effects of global warming. But with the increase of pollution of the air, the oceans are becoming more acidic. The danger of the acidity of oceans is increasing as more acid rains are increasing.

A huge amount of industrial wastes are dumped into the rivers and oceans. When the pollution becomes very high it leads to formation of dead zones where the water is highly depleted of oxygen. These zones are death traps, marine plants and fish die there.

With the increase of sea vessels to import and export oil, accidents of oil spill are increasing. During such accidents crude oil is spilled into the sea and spread on the surface of the water. The area polluted by an oil spill may reach thousands of square kilometres killing uncountable marine fish and birds.
