This is due to increase in hydrostatic pressure and sometimes with force per unit area that are exerted with a liquid state.

In fact, the deeper activities are undergo the sea and able to do greater the pressure added in the water pushing down on you.

The pressure increases due to surface of a liquid and changes into column pushing down from pressure.

pressure in liquid depends upon height of liquid column. higher the depth weight of the liquid column at a particular point is also higher.
Due to this pressure in liquid changes with depth.
