Answer:
The main difference between pollination and fertilization is that pollination is the deposition of pollen grains from the anther to a stigma of a flower whereas fertilization is the fusion of the haploid gametes, forming a diploid zygote.02-May-2017
❶ Pollination is the transfer of pollen from the anther (male organ of the flower) to the stigma (female organ of the flower) of the same or different flower. Fertilization occurs once the pollen grain reaches the stigma, it produces a pollen tube, which grows down through the style to the ovary.
❷ The important post-fertilisation changes in flower are : i Sepals petals stigma style and stamen degenerate. ii The fertilised egg develops into embryo. iii The ovary ripens into fruit. iv The ovules ripens into seeds.
❸ The various types of vegetative propagation are examples of asexual reproduction. The offspring of the plants are clones of the original plant since no mixing of DNA occurs. The most common forms of vegetative propagation are grafting, cutting, layering, tuber, bulb or stolon formation, suckering and tissue culture
❹ When the fertilization of the egg does not take place the thick uterine wall sheds off. Rupturing blood vessels of the uterus and blood come out in the form of menstrual fluid. This is called menstruation.
