How does rainfall affect transpiration?

Answer:
The rainfall pulse to leaf water potential was just the opposite of the variation of plant transpiration, which means that a small amount of precipitation (0.8 mm) would decrease the leaf water potential, but for a relative large amount of precipitation (9.5 mm), the leaf water potential of both plants decreased.

Transpiration and groundwater
The soil above the water table gets wet when it rains as water infiltrates into it
from the surface, But, it will dry out
without additional precipitation. Since the water table is usually below the depth of the plant roots, the plants are dependent on water supplied by precipitation.
