Red blood cells have a pigment called haemoglobin which combines which oxygen to form oxyhaemoglobin, a temporary compound of oxygen. So when blood flows the bloods vessels to the organs, the oxygen is exchaged into the tissue cells of the organs. In this way oxygen is transported.
