Answer:

It is inversely proportional to the area of cross section of the wire. The more the area of cross section of the wire, the less is the resistance and the less the area, the more is the resistance.

IT IS BECAUSE,

  • Electrical resistance is directly proportional to the length of the conductor and inversely proportional to the cross-sectional area.

Formula:-

  • R = ρL/A,

ρ is the resistivity of the material. It is measured in Ohm's meter.

=> Resistance is inversely proportional to the area of cross-section. When the area of cross-section increases the resistance decreases and vice versa.

ELECTRICAL RESISTANCE:-

=> When an electric current flows through a bulb or any conductor, the conductor offers some obstruction to the current and this is known as electrical resistance and is denoted by R.

=> The electrical resistance of a circuit is the ratio between the voltage applied to the current flowing through it.

ALSO KNOW:-

FACTORS AFFECTING ELECTRICAL RESISTANCE:-

The electrical resistance of a conductor is dependent on,

  • The cross-sectional area of the conductor
  • Length of the conductor
  • The material of the conductor
  • The temperature of the conducting material
  • Electrical resistance is directly proportional to the length of the conductor and inversely proportional to the cross-sectional area.
