Ans : Rhizobium as a Biofertilizer Since the main limiting nutrient for cereal crops is nitrogen, it becomes important to find alternatives to reduce and optimize the use of chemical N fertilizers applied to cereal crops. Rhizobium is also considered as a fertilizer when it makes insoluble phosphorus available to plants.

Rhizobium has a symbiotic relation with leguminous plants and it takes shelter in root nodules of legume plants and convert atmospheric nitrogen into nitrates which makes the soil fertile.
