Answer:
Explanation:
Malgudi Days is a collection of short stories written by R. K. Narayan. The book consists of 32 stories, all of which take place in the fictional town of Malgudi, in southern India.
How it depicts ground reality:
- “An Astrologer’s Day” shows the story of an astrologer who knows nothing about stars and astrology. He never wanted the job but he was so impoverished, he couldn’t turn down the job.
He uses clever guesswork and manipulation and makes many amazing predictions overtime so that people keep using his services.
One day he comes across his rival, a man he thought he had killed years ago. So, he disguises himself as “the astrologer” and fools his rival. This shows how in reality people might suffer and try to get out of various situations via manipulation.
Indian culture:
-Marriages are greatly affected by relatives in India. If any relative passes away that would delay marriages for this is their tradition of being close to each other. So in the story, In “The Missing Mail,” there is Thannappa; a kind postman who has good relationships with his customers, especially Ramanujam, a senior clerk in the Revenue Department Office.
Ramanujam’s daughter is going to get married after many ups and downs. so when Thannappa has to deliver a letter to the family about their uncles death, he decides not to deliver the letter to Ramanujam in hopes that it will not disrupt the much anticipated marriage ceremony.
Answer:
Malgudi days is one of the best artwork by RK Narayan in the year 1943 where he portrayed a new story in which a uniqueness could be seen where he has beautifully described Indian Culture most subtly and straightforwardly where every character in the stories depicted with simple and doing what is right for them.
In Malgudi days, Culture followed by Indians can be seen as they can be observed doing what their ancestors have been doing since years.
