Saki tells us about human greed and vanity through the character Mrs Packletide and Miss Louisa Mebbin. Mrs Packletide is very greedy and jealous of Loona Bimberton. she wanted to outlive Loona Bimberton. She decided to shoot a tiger only for the purpose to outshine Loona's achievement. Miss Louisa Mebbin is so greedy of money. She is so stingy. It can be said through various instances like she calculates and say's that a Rs.1000 is too much for an old tiger. She also urges Mrs Packletide to shoot the tiger before it could touch the goat to avoid the payment for the bait.
So Saki mocks the high class lady through this lesson.

Saki has written a wonderful satire. The story Mrs. Pakletide's Tiger certainly expose human greed and vanity. Mrs Pakletide hungry of fame decides to kill a tiger to outdo the act of Loona and prepares everything for that but she never gets to accomplish full success. Human nature of greed is brought out by humour in this story when Miss Mebbin blackmails Mrs. Pakletide and she feared of her defeat pays her. This story shows that greed and vanity are never good for anyone and one should always chase excellence.
