Mrs. Packletide's Tiger is a satire in which the author sarcastically comments upon the ladies of the aristocratic society. With the help of asingle story of tiger killing the author humuorously throws light on the ostentatious behaviour of the ladies who are in vain glories. Mrs. Packletide shoots a tiger to outshine Loona Bimberton. This action involves neither bravery nor risk. Her idea of paying thousand rupees to the villagers is more humurous and the villager's reaction after the tiger's death also makes us laugh. Humour breaks all previous records when Louisa Mebbin informs that its not the tiger but goat which was shot dead by the Memsahib. The paid companion Louisa Mebbin, her stiginess and elder sisterly attitude towards money maked us enjoy the story. The over flowing humour in the story along with a message makes it more interesting. The way finally Miss Mebbin exploits and blackmails Mrs. Packletide makes it a complete satire.
