How does sarojini naidu express the indian sensibility in her poetry?
Answers
Sarojini Naidu was a freedom fighter and a patriot. She was known as 'The 'Nightingale of India'. She wrote about the simple joys and sorrows of life. Her poetry included poems on nature, love and death. She also wrote children's poems. Her poems describe Indian festivals, customs and traditions, flora and fauna, places, men and women and legends of kings and queens.
For instance the poem Bazaars of Hyderabad describes the bazaars of Hyderabad. It was written during the British rule. In those days Indians were encouraged to buy goods from traditional Indian markets and boycott foreign goods. The poem describes the loveliness and colourful nature of a traditional Indian bazaar. The bazaar witnesses the joys and sorrows of life for example happiness during weddings and festive occasions and sadness at the time of death of a king or soldier.
