how does sexual reproduction lead to both similarities and variation in offspring in their parents ?

because. both male and female contribute equal no of chromosome this results in similarity but variation can arise by the following reasons like error in replection of dna at the time of mitosis and random union of male and female gametes and crossing over of gametes

offsprings receive genetic information from both of their parents. therefore, to some extent there are similarities as well as difference between parents and offsprings.
