The shape of a machine can increase or decrease the amount of resistance it experiences as it moves a long a fluid(gases like air and liquids like water). This is why most machines built for movement are made to be streamlined. Streamline lowers the resistance due to a fluid as a body moves through it, it allows the machine to 'cut' through the fluid.
