rainfed tanks are very common in South India .they are quite Shallow but since the water is silt ,Laden and throws the light back. the bottom is not clearly visible. these tanks are very important for agriculture. some of the tanks are huge and the sight of the sun rising or sitting over them is really beautiful. the colour of the water of these tanks is due to the silt which is suspended in it. the finest particle of soil remains floating in the water whereas the largest particles settle down
