Hi there,

☆ The charge of any radical is equal the sum of charges of atoms forming the radical ,which are oxidation number

☆ In SO4 the oxidation number of sulphure is +6 and the oxidation number of oxygen is -2

☆ So, the total charges is +6+(-2×4) = -2
