soil is formed from rocks by the process of weathering. weathering is a process of cutting down of rock particles into soil by action og sun ,wind ,water etc.. when the action of these agents happen on the big rock particles they are broken down into small particles and after some time again into more small particles ... this is how soil is formed.this process is a very slow process and takes millions of years to complete..
