How does SONAR work? Describe briefly

Sonar is simply making use of an echo. When an animal or machine makes a noise, it sends sound waves into the environment around it. Those waves bounce off nearby objects, and some of them reflect back to the object that made the noise.

SONAR stands for SOund Navigation And Ranging . It works on the principal of reflection of sound. It is generally used for finding the depth of sea , shipwrecks , enemy submarines etc etc.

The ship is attached with a transmitter and a detector . The transmitter transmits the ultrasound and after striking the sea bed the ultrasound gets reflected back and get detected by the detector. And the detector then calculates the depth of sea.
