sound propogates through a series of compressions(high pressure and density) and rarefactions(low pressure and density) in any medium like air, water or stell etc. the vibrating body pushes the nearest particle of the medium and this particle vibrates at its mean posoiton and pushes the next and as this continues a series of compressions and rarefactions are created and reaches our ear
