The replicator operates off the same matter-energy principle as the transporter. You insert an energy pattern and a complete scan of the object you want to make, the computer turns out a near perfect replica of that exact object, food, or machine.

You cannot however replicate complex organs such as the brain, or specific organelles within cells. It cannot create sentient life, nor can it copy your limbs if you should lose them. Just about anything else is fair game from a sword sharpened to the thickness of a molecule, to a hand phaser or a wrench. LMAO (That was a poor joke, I know).

So, basically, it defies all the conservation laws, whether it be conservation of mass or energy, it defies everything. So, practically, this Star Trek replicator is impossible to manufacture, duh! By the way, if I had one of those things then I would make a lot out of it, LOL. You know what I mean.
