Stomata helps the plants to get carbon dioxide to prepare their food.

The guard cells regulate the opening and closing of stomata.

When the guard cells become turgid the stomata opens thus taking enough carbon dioxide for the requirement of plants.

When the guard cells go flaccid the stomata closes .
