Earth has crust on its surface that extend to several tens of kilometers. We find a thick layer of molten rock and other materials below the thin crust. As it is molten rock, the temperature in extremely high. The heat from the magma is slowly transferred to the crust. As we get closer and closer to the center of the Earth, the temperatures sky rocket after tens of kilometers. Hence, the rock above the mantle is extremely hot and the temperatures gradually decrease as we go to outer and outer layers of crust
