active transport is the process by which dissolved molecules move across a cell membrane from a lower to a higher concentration........in active transport, particles move against the concentration gradient and thus require an input of energy from the cell ,,,,,,,,,,,it usually happens across the cell memebrane ....there are thousands of lipids embedded in the cell's lipid bilayer...these proteins do much of the work in active transport....

a cell would use active transport mechanism just to move substances against a concentration and this process requires some amount of chemical energy..
