The argument about oxen meadows begins when Lomov came to give a marriage proposal for Natalya.The arguments begins and expanded into a big problem.Finally Lomov forgot the matter for what he came to Natalya's house.(THE PROPOSAL).

This is from a short  story "The Proposal" written by Anton Chekhov. Oxen Meadows are grasslands for  the animals to graze. It symbolizes the various aspects of relationship between a husband and a wife when they argue just for the sake of arguing devoid of any feelings in the argument.

Lomov and Natalia are man and woman in the story and they fight over the issues of ownership of the Oxen Meadows. Oxen Meadows has been a disputed property between the families for generations.

Natalia reasons  that Oxen Meadows was theirs as her grandfather and great grandfather mentioned that their land extended to Burnt Marsh while Lomov believes that Oxen Meadows that touch the burch forest of Chubukov belongs to his family.
