how does the atmosphere act as blancket ?the moon which is about the same distance from the sun that the earth is but still there is no atmosphere on moon give reason

atmosphere is like a blanket because it forms layers on the earth and is pulled by the gravity of earth . moon doest have atmosphere because gravitational force exerted by it is very low and is not capable of exerting a force so that atmosphere can stay around it.
