How does the bedrock relate to the soil that is formed overtop of it?

Part of the bedrock itself become soil.

Soil is just a bunch of rocks and other materials broken down into tiny particles. Water and other moving parts in soil help grind the top of the bedrock to create more tiny soil particles.
